El turismo en las Sierras ya no se explica sin Internet

Para hoteles y cabañas, es inimaginable otro modo de contacto con sus clientes. También varió el hábito social y cultural de los visitantes.

“Hoy ya no se explica el turismo sin Internet”. La misma frase citan Antonio y María Paula. Él es dueño de un hotel en La Falda y ella regentea otro en Santa Rosa de Calamuchita.

Coinciden, además, con la decena de establecimientos turísticos consultados por este diario. Lo dicen también los especialistas que analizan el mercado turístico: aunque hace 15 o 20 años Internet casi no existía, hoy no se concibe la actividad sin la intermediación de la Red, en la que la gente navega, compara, elige, reserva y hasta incluso paga.

No es que no haya modos de hacer turismo sin conexión alguna con la Web, pero sí es una práctica cada vez más minoritaria.

Adrián Maitino, dueño del hotel Colinas del Valle en Mina Clavero, lo resume clarito: “Internet nos ha permitido mejorar la comercialización y nos ayuda a llegar a más gente. Una página web llega a millones, con inversiones mínimas. Antes, era más caro promocionarse y llegabas a mucha menos gente. Para empresas chicas era complicado”.

También marca que el uso va variando: “Hoy ya no es tanto el valor de una página web propia del hotel, que hay que tenerla, sino la llegada mediante los grandes portales. También ahora impactan las ventas on line a través de páginas como Booking, Despegar, Hoteles.com, o los portales donde la gente opina de un hotel (como Tripavisor). Ya no sólo aparece la foto de tu hotel, sino que hasta se sabe el carácter del mozo o del dueño”, comenta Maitino.

“Es asombroso cómo la gente llega sabiendo todo de tu hotel, aunque nunca hayan estado”, confirma Darío Ramatto, empresario de Carlos Paz.

Maitino resume la historia del cambio: “Hace 20 años, si alguien se enteraba de nosotros y nos contactaba, le contábamos por teléfono cómo era. Como no lo veía, le mandábamos un folleto por correo. Eso ya demandaba una semana. Con suerte, volvía a llamar. Si confirmaba, tenía que ir al banco y depositarnos la seña, y nosotros ir a nuestro banco a comprobar el depósito. Pasaban dos o tres semanas, con suerte, para confirmar una reserva. Hoy es otro mundo: con un click se mira, con otro se consulta, y con otro se reserva y paga, sin levantarse de la computadora o el teléfono. En media hora se puede hacer lo que antes demandaba dos semanas”.

Otro mundo

En La Cumbrecita, Evelyn –socia del hotel Las Cascadas– asume que “cambió mucho la actividad con esta tecnología”. Apunta que, en su caso, les mejoró incluso el movimiento en temporada baja: “Porque nos facilita tener más público todo el año; la llegada a la gente es más fácil y masiva. Aunque nosotros tenemos una clientela firme, que del teléfono pasó a reservar por 
 e-mail , el resto llega todo por contactos vía Internet”.

Antonio, del hotel Nor Tomarza de La Falda, sintetiza: “Internet para nuestro rubro es lo más directo, masivo y económico para llegar a la gente. Creo que al menos la mitad llega porque nos vio en la Red. Un cuarto puede ser porque ya estuvo y vuelve. Y el otro cuarto porque está acá y llega por mostrador”. Pero antes, aquella primera mitad no existía.

“Hace 20 años, todo era por correo. Una carta demoraba una semana, con suerte. Valía más la palabra: tenían que creer lo que les contábamos, y nosotros creerles que venían”, acota Antonio.

Impresiones

Esteban Acerbo, dueño de cabañas en Villa General Belgrano, tiene su propia historia: “Cuando empecé, hace 15 años, recién largaba el e-mail tímidamente. Aún era central el contacto telefónico, pero la gente tenía que creerte lo que le ofrecías: no le mostrabas nada. Hoy, sin Internet sería inimaginable el servicio. La mayoría llega porque nos vio y contactó por esa vía”.

El cabañero marca una diferencia: “Para establecimientos chicos ya es vital, pero para los grandes más aún, porque todo lo hacen por Internet, hasta los pagos”.

María Paula Sosa, que lleva años en la actividad hotelera en Santa Rosa de Calamuchita, es concluyente: “Hoy no se explica el turismo sin internet”, dice. “El 90 por ciento de las consultas y reservas provienen de contactos por Internet, salvo en hoteles sindicales, que son para sus afiliados”, precisa.

El transerrano Maitino apela a la comparación y al recuerdo de un tiempo para nada lejano: “Nosotros empezamos, hace 10 años, poniendo una computadora en la sala de estar, para que la gente se conectara. Hoy, ya es antiguo. Tanto que la acabamos de sacar porque nadie la usa. Hoy cada uno llega con su notebook ,tablet o teléfono con Internet y reclaman un buen servicio de Wi-Fi”.

Las claves

Transacciones. Según la Cámara Argentina de Turismo Electrónico (Cace), en 2014 el 30 por ciento de las transacciones de comercio hechas por Internet fueron de turismo. Mientras, 68 por ciento de los turistas dice haber consultado páginas web para definir su sitio de alojamiento.

Casi todos. La consultora AC Nielson asegura que 90 por ciento de los argentinos busca y compara información de turismo en Internet. Y que 21 por ciento de las compras que se hacen por la Web están ligados al rubro turístico.

Y crece. Los especialistas marcan que ese fenómeno va en crecimiento, más aun con la expansión de los móviles conectados a Internet, que permiten consultar destinos y hasta hacer reservas desde cualquier sitio.
