El Parque Nacional Quebrada del Condorito está ubicado a 86 km de la ciudad de Córdoba dentro de la Reserva Provincial Pampa de Achala, una de las siete Áreas Protegidas con las que cuenta la Provincia de Córdoba. El parque fue creado en el año 1996 y cuenta con una superficie de 37.364 hectáreas, es el único Parque Nacional que alberga Córdoba; el objetivo del mismo es conservar la biodiversidad y las cabeceras de las cuencas hídricas de la región.

La Quebrada del Condorito es una gigantesca grieta de 800 m de profundidad, ubicada en la ladera oriental de la Pampa de Achala, habitada por una importante colonia de Cóndores Andinos, especie que se encuentra en peligro de extinción en toda América del Sur. El Parque ofrece dos balcones (balcón norte y balcón sur), desde donde los turistas obtienen una visión privilegiada de la Quebrada y del vuelo de los cóndores.

En las profundidades de esta grieta corre el río Condorito, que forma profundas lagunas. Una de ellas se denomina “El baño del Cóndor”, puesto que es el único lugar conocido en Latinoamérica donde estos majestuosos animales se bañan, brindando un espectáculo único.

Además del avistaje de aves, dentro del Parque Nacional se pueden realizar otras actividades como trekking, cabalgatas, mountain bike, safaris fotográficos y avistaje de fauna.

Debido a su largo aislamiento, su ubicación y su clima tan particular, es un sitio de convergencia de linajes de orígenes muy diversos: andino, patagónico, chaqueño y pampeano. Aquí conviven árboles representativos de regiones tan distintas como la región andina, el pastizal pampeaono, la estepa patagónica, y la región chaqueña, es el caso del orco-molle o maitén, de origen andino – patagóncio y el tabaquillo, procedente del norte de Los Andes.

Además, su condición de aislamiento climático ha propiciado la evolución de numerosas especies animales y vegetales únicas en el mundo. Entre ellas se destacan las orquídeas y otras plantas, aves, mamíferos, anfibios y reptiles, entre ellos el emblemático “lagarto verde de Achala” de color verde esmeralda.

RECOMENDACIONES PARA VISITAR EL PARQUE

Ropa y calzado (con suela antideslizante) cómodos.
Protector solar, sombrero ó gorra.
Ropa de abrigo (la temperatura llega a – 20º C de mínima en invierno y a -1º C de mínima en Verano).
Vianda ligera, cantimplora con agua o pastillas potabilizadoras.
